Mental Health First Aid: Be The Difference Saturday, April 15, 2023 1:30 pm - 3:30 pm
Mental Health First Aid is an evidence-based training program administered by the National Council for Mental Wellbeing that teaches one how to identify, understand and respond to signs of mental health and substance use challenges.
Just as CPR helps you assist an individual having a heart attack, Mental Health First Aid helps you assist someone experiencing a mental health or substance use-related crisis.
The purpose of this session is to provide an overview about the program and how one can access a program for certification.
Objectives:
Identify ways that Mental Health First Aid can be utilized to support the mental health and well-being within a health care setting and in the community.
Recognize signs and symptoms of the most common mental health concerns and specific strategies to support someone that may need assistance or be in crisis.
Locate and provide connection to appropriate internal and external resources and support.
